People, ideas and things.
The curated knowledge types around the texts. Every count describes this graph rather than an exhaustive Vedic taxonomy: a type with eight members is a selection, and the type’s own page says what it covers.
People4 types
Seers, their families, and the peoples the texts name.
Ideas and acts8 types
Concepts, actions, qualities and states the texts work with.
Rites4 types
Rituals, offerings and the social rites around a household.
The material world11 types
Things named in the texts: what is held, grown, worn, mined and crossed.
Health and harm1 types
Afflictions, threats and named causes, which are three different things.
Other types1 types
Everything else registered in this graph.
What these counts mean2
Deities are not served by the generic entity surface. The Anukramani's devata slot holds 22 human patrons, 7 praise-of-a-gift labels and 28 abstractions ruled not to name an addressee alongside the gods, and resolving that population is a contract only the deity endpoints apply. Use GET /api/v1/devatas (add population=all_ascriptions to see the slot as it stands).
deity_population_contractThese counts are node counts in the frozen graph, not measures of how much of the corpus each type reaches. A type with 8 nodes is a curated selection and not an inventory of what the Samhitas name -- open the type to read its own coverage statement.
