VedAnvaya

Four Samhitas. Four textual worlds.

20,210 canonical mantras, held as four editions rather than as one flattened corpus. Each keeps its own hierarchy and its own words for it, and each says which recension is open in front of you.

ऋग्वेदRigveda SamhitaŚākala recension

The oldest of the four and the source most of the others draw on: ten mandalas of hymns to Agni, Indra, Soma and the rest, with the traditional index naming a seer, a deity and a metre for every verse.

सामवेदSamaveda SamhitaKauthuma recension, ārcika

The Rigveda arranged for singing: the ārcika verse collection in the Kauthuma recension, most of it Rigvedic wording set in a new order, carrying the svara marks that record how it was pitched. The gāna song-books it was sung from are not included.

One recension each, and what that leaves out

A solid mark is the edition this build holds. A hollow one is a corpus the registry records as named and outside it, so an absence measured in this product is an absence from the held recension only.
