āñjana
ointment (āñjana)
The āñjana, the salve of the three-peaked mountain: addressed in the second person in AVS 4.9 and 19.44-45 as a protection that grinds up demons and sorceresses, told that fever, balāsa and the snake are its three slaves, and rubbed on by wives at a funeral. Its two names, traikakudá "of the three-peaked mountain" and "of the Yamunā", are folded in here because AVS 4.9.10 says they are both its names.
