The first of the day's three soma pressings, named by its time of day. RV 3.28.1 and RV 3.52.4 offer the cake "prātaḥsāve"; AVS 6.47.1 has Agni protect us "prātaḥsavane"; and RV 10.112.1 calls it the first draught outright -- "prātaḥsāvas tava hi pūrvapītiḥ", Griffith's "thy first draught is early morn's libation".
